Mog on the Tyne

Jaffa

Jaffa was our big, loveable, ginger tom cat! A typical friendly ginge, who would expose his belly to you no problem at all and give you those sand paper tongue licks. He now resides in Sunderland, with staff member Luke’s family. A lockdown home turned furrever <3

Tokyo

Tokyo is the brother to our Jaffa, but these two ginger tom cats could not be more different! Eventually, Tokyo became uninterested in the other cats and used to hide under one of the tables. However we noticed our regular customer Saffron who visited every week, had developed some sort of bond with Tokyo! He would roll over for her, let her touch is belly (which is a huge sign of trust) and go to her when she walked through the door. So of course if Tokyo was to be happier in Saffron’s house, we decided that’s where he should live! Now they are very happy together indeed.

Maggie

As the daughter of Gizmo and sister of Sir Francis, Maggie defiantly has just as strong noble character, although it was noticed that she was the more timid of the family. Often she’d be by Gizmo’s side looking for comfort and attention from her mother. Unfortunately these feelings weren’t mutual, sassy Gizmo liked to do her own thing. We became concerned that she may not be happy living with a group of other cats so in turn made the decision to move her to her new home with one of our cat slaves, Maggie has adapted quickly and now lives with a variety of reptiles. She now has the run of a mini zoo!

Tinks

Tinks used to like sitting up on the shelves in the cafe and keeping herself to herself. She has also been an outdoor cat but was rescued due to being pregnant, so she had the urges to go outside. We would take her out on her harness but that wasn’t quite the same. She now lives with Cafe founder Katie in the countryside, where she loves to catch field mice and bring them home as presents! She’s so happy now to freely go in and outdoors.

Gladys

Gladys arrived at the café at just 8 weeks old, being the only kitten of her litter ready to leave the shelter. She arrived at the cafe with fellow kitten Gary, who grew to become a big brother figure with her. The two were a whirlwind of mischievous fun, always on the prowl for cream and cake!

She had a wonderful 3 years with us here at Mog on the Tyne before moving onto a single cat house hold with a friend of ours who is a regular cafe guest. Now she can get all the attention she needs, all to herself!

Sir Francis

This handsome chap got his name because of his amazing white moustache! (And obviously he likes to wear a top hat and play poker in his spare time.) We loved when Francis was in a very happy mood and he became a dribble machine, redecorating your favourite pair of jeans. He now keeps our cafe manager Brogan company at home <3

Tyrian

Tyrian was our OG! She was a resident of our cafe her whole life, right from us opening our doors to the public in 2015. She was always one of the smallest cats, yet the most adventurous and daring. It would seem her size doesn’t bother her, because she’s very mighty which is where she got her name! (after the Game of Thrones character.) She now lives a very very happy life with Brogan and her cafe roomie Sir Francis!

Wobble

Wobble arrived at our café with Ballet, they are both rescues from an animal sanctuary in Thailand. Our founder Katie fell in love with the 2 cats and was asked if she could bring them over to the cat café! Wobble now lives with Katie in the countryside as he likes to have all the attention to himself and also have a frolic outside, with Katies supervision of course! We feel this is a more suited life for him and you can keep up to date with his adventures on his instagram: @wobble_cat_
